Marrianna was born on August 4, 2009 and passed away April 22, 2014. She was born with Cornelia de Lange Syndrome. She is survived by her loving parents Darin Giedd and Kelly Gorin and brothers Huxley and Orson Gorin-Giedd. She is also survived by grandparents, aunts and uncles, cousins, and other loving family and friends. She was a beautiful, loved child, an inspiration and a blessing.
I (Jan Giedd) am one of her grandparents. I read the following at her funeral service on April 26, 2014 at Lakewood Cemetery Chapel, Minneapolis, Minnesota on behalf of her grandparents:
"Marrianna is a special gift to our families. We knew from early on that our granddaughter was to be like no other. But we didn't realize the blessings she was to bring to our immediate family and to her extended family of caregivers and therapists. They learned to love her as much as we do.
We have all learned many things from our precious Marrianna. We have learned patience. We have gained in our understanding of the human condition. We have learned to celebrate the multiple milestones that she attained and this brought true joy to our hearts. We have learned to appreciate what is truly important - compassion and understanding. Most importantly Marrianna's presence brought our family closer together and made us love each other more deeply. Because of Marrianna we now have an extended family of wonderful medical professionals, therapists, caregivers and friends. This is another blessing,
As grandparents we have watched our son and daughter care for her and love her. Marrianna could not have been born to better parents. We are so very proud and thankful to you, Darin and Kelly, for your love and care to our precious girl.
With very heavy hearts we think of Marrianna now and treasure our memories. May Marrianna forever sing and run with the angels. We love our little angel so very much.
